Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire are the two largest cocoa producers in the world, with combined production accounting for more than 60% of the world's annual supply of cocoa. But the average cocoa farmer in Ghana earns 60 pounds a day, a paltry sum even in West Africa. Endemic poverty has allowed the rise of the trade of so-called "chocolate slaves".
