Liverpool and Philippe Coutinho are interested in a meeting this summer, but Barcelona has other projects, according to reports in Spain.

The 27-year-old left Anfield for the Nou camp in January 2018 for an initial £ 105 million, but he has not yet had the expected impact from Barcelona.

The Brazilian scored 21 goals in 75 appearances, but never got a guaranteed starting place in the first XI and would suffer more if the transfer targets Neymar and Antoine Griezemann arrived in Catalonia.

After winning the Copa America with Brazil this summer, Coutinho is looking to spend his time in Spain and prefers to return to the Premier League instead of moving to Paris Saint-Germain, an interested party, according to Mundo Deportivo.

However, Barca would prefer to use Coutinho as the winner of the match to bring Neymar back to the PSG club than to let him return to England.

The playmaker is likely to press for his preferred option, but another problem will be that Liverpool will not want to pay the same amount sold to Coutinho just 18 months ago.

The initial amount of £ 105 million generated additional costs of up to £ 142 million, of which approximately £ 13.5 million would have already been paid.

It is not yet clear how ready Liverpool is to pick up his former player, but it would be considerably less than the fees he received for him.

Liverpool has remained silent on the transfer market since he won the Champions League trophy in early June, completing until now the signing of Sepp van den Berg of PEC Zwolle.

They are looking for an addition to their front line and have been badociated with personalities such as Nicolas Pepe, Marcos Asensio and Ousmane Dembele.

A return for Coutinho could be the solution and his Brazilian teammate, Roberto Firmino, might have played the game well, both entertaining each other at a private party after the Copa America triumph over Peru.
