Innocence – Game Test – GAMES Magazine

I often say that it is very difficult to reach my stimulation threshold in games nowadays, even if it is difficult to maintain the long term interest. Still, so many good games have come out this year, some have ended, I could not play one or two, but the majority of them were hurrying while waiting to play. As a game, they do not pose any problem to me, as some titles that await me this season have lost my attention in recent months, such as Assbadin's Creed Odyssey, Kingdom Hearts 3, Division 2 and a few others. But in a way, they are not linked anymore. That's why I was surprised to see that Pague was able to capture such a mood with his mood, his story, his characters and his simple gameplay. So I can not repeat anything else that I've been trying to emphasize for a long time: the good story and the atmosphere are at the rendezvous, but it takes all the holes in his back. And really …

The story revolves around the De Rune family. On a pleasant autumn afternoon, Amicia's father walks the forest in search of wild boar. The cute little hunter rabbit runs with joy, dad and daughter chat happily and the sun is shining and calm. This is exactly what trained and experienced players know in advance: something will happen soon. And, indeed, Amicia will soon be confronted with the plague, which is not only a terrible epidemic, but also a life-threatening crowd that destroys everything that lives and moves in no time. If that were not enough, the Inquisition would come to our feet. Our task is to escape, and our sick brother, Hugo, is our responsibility after the Inquisition has vanquished the family estate. What is common in the epidemic, in rats, and how it is related to Hugo, even if it will prove in a beautiful story.

An important part of the game is based on stealth, escape and solving simple puzzles. Hugo continues with us, grabs our hands, and if for some reason we had to go out, it could not take too much time, because Hugo is a nice nervous man, and he is often attacked when he is with him. At first there is not much to do with a slingshot, it can be used for diversion rather than as a weapon. Opponents wear armor and the stones flit smoothly, so that we can only use our self-defense device in exceptional cases. However, over time, it can be developed and deployed with various tools, such as Molotov badtails made by us. What we need in a given case does not cause a lot of headaches, because in most cases, the game clearly indicates what we should use. Either there is a given object in the right place, or one gets the ingredients for krafting, or one throws the object in the form of metallic glitter that divert the attention of the people from the Inquisition.

Regarding the opponents, the game is not very varied, there are only a few types among the soldiers and, although our options increase considerably in terms of progress, the challenge is not adaptable, so that the gaming experience becomes quite repetitive. However, all this is well offset by the well-written story and the relationship between Amicia and Hugo. The full gadget, sounds, sync and music add to the ambience, which easily compensates for repetitive and undemanding gameplay. The creators are convinced that they would create a game easy to digest for everyone, while the story would stun him. It's good.

All in all, Plague Tale is a new place in the games. Technically far from perfect, the animations and movements are not as fluid as they could be in 2019, but it was not just a billion – dollar team. of dollars behind the project, so I think that can be forgiven. The view is nice, and in some places, the light and colors make a very impressive picture on our monitor, but looking at it, there are some gaps. And if I really want to split my hair, it's also worth noting that it's hard to feel the squeak of Amicia's actions during the game, taking control of the pigs in the hands of the rats without reflect, or drop candlesticks on people's heads. However, we are still talking about an outstanding work of art in its own category, a great return to the horrors of the 14th century and making good use of its own characters.
