Insecurity: we win the insurgency, the North-East was worse before the government of Buhari – Lai Mohammed

The federal government has claimed it is winning the war against insurgents in the country, insisting that Nigeria is not a failed state.

Information and Culture Minister Lai Mohammed made the statements in a BBC interview on Wednesday.

Lai Mohammed said in comments that the security situation in the northeast was worse before the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in 2015.

He said the terrorists decided to surrender to Nigerian troops following a recent attack on them.

“The Nigerian government is winning the war against the insurgents, proof of this is the number of insurgents who are already surrendering not only with their weapons but with their families,” said Lai Mohammed.

“This thing takes time. Remember that in 2015 the entire Northeast was a no-go zone where schools, markets, and hospitals were closed. This is clearly not what we inherited in 2015 ”.
