Intel Nets for the Ninth Generation Core H Processors for More Powerful Laptops

Intel took advantage of this April farewell week to formalize the new Core ninth generation of the H series, after a series of rumors appeared during the month.

They are designed to be integrated into notebooks for gamers and content creators, which have recently appeared on Razer laptops.

The range card is represented by CPUs with a four-, six-, and eight-core physical architecture, maximum frequencies up to 5 GHz, and support for Wi-Fi 6 (Gig +) connectivity.


The next-generation high-end model is Intel i9-9980HK: a processor with a maximum Turbo frequency of 5 GHz, 8 cores and 16 threads, with 16 MB of Intel Smart Cache.

As usual, the suffix K identifies a variant with an unlocked multiplier. The line includes a total of six models: two i9s (including the i9-9980HK mentioned above), two i7s and two i5s, all with a TDP equal to 45W.


In terms of performance, the new Core H series is able to offer, according to the Intel document:

  • Performance increase of up to 33% compared to a PC of about 3 years (comparison between i7-9750H and i7-6700HQ using comparative tests with SYSmark).
  • Increase in responsiveness up to 28% (comparison between Intel Core i7-9750H Intel Optane H10 memory with 1 TB with typical state of the art storage and Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor with Intel 760P TLC SSD in the reactivity SYSMark 2018).

Games

  • Up to 56% more images in titles like Total War: Warhammer (comparing an i7-9750H to an i7-6700HQ).
  • The fastest loading time of up to 38% on games like Civilization 6 (comparing an i7-9750H to an i7-6700HQ).
  • Stream live video in high definition up to 2.1 times faster than the previous generation (comparison between an i9-9980HK and an i9-8950HK with Black Ops 4).

Content creation

  • Video editing up to 54% faster (comparison between an i9-9980HK and an i7-6700HQ running Adobe Premiere Pro).
  • Content creation up to 63% faster than a PC of about 3 years thanks to Intel Optane H10 memory with solid state storage compared to a NAND TLC SSD (comparing Intel Core i7 -9750H to 1 TB of Intel Optane H10 memory with usual state storage and Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor with Intel 760P TLC SSD).

The H Series processors are available today (April 23) on Intel's partner network and will power Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo and MSI notebooks.
