Alexis Sanchez’s time at Inter Milan could come to an abrupt end just five months after completing a permanent move.
The Chilean forward spent a year on loan at the San Siro after failing at Man Utd, who ultimately ended his contract last summer.
Inter offered Sanchez a free transfer as the forward signed a three-year deal worth £ 28million over its term.
However, now it looks like the 32-year-old may be walking away, as Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says Inter are in talks with Roma over a possible swap deal.
The arrangement would see ex-Man City striker Edin Dzeko, 34, move in the opposite direction.
Sanchez has only started 10 of his 19 appearances for Inter so far this season, scoring twice and providing two assists during that time.
It was not until Saturday that Sanchez made his 50th appearance for the club in the Serie A clash with Udinese.
But boss Antonio Conte hinted in December that he had become frustrated with the striker’s “constant” injuries, which is a remarkably different tone from what he offered at Sanchez’s permanent arrival.

Upon signing, Conte said: “The club deserve to be recognized because it has come at the worst moment of its career.
“He arrived after two difficult years when he was really struggling at United and then got injured with us.
“We took the time to get him back on track, so it is only fitting that Inter take advantage and reap the rewards of this effort.”

Those rewards now appear to have already been reaped, at least in the eyes of Conte, who is happy to sanction a move to Dzeko land in his stead.
The Roma star has hit the net eight times this season after appearing just one more game than Sanchez.
And despite his years of advancement, the Bosnian scored 19 goals for his club last season – the same that Sanchez collected in the previous three campaigns combined.
That said, it remains to be seen how Conte will pair another indisputable striker with current No.9 Romelu Lukaku, or whether Dzeko arrives as a replacement.
