The World Bank has lamented the high cost of the internet in low- and middle-income countries, including Ghana.

Bank Vice President for Africa Hafez Ghanem urged the Minister of Communications to adopt cost-cutting measures to allow many Ghanaians and residents to use the Internet at affordable prices.

He made this observation when he paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful.

In her response, Ms. Owusu-Ekuful said that the Government of Ghana has already started processes to lower the cost of the Internet in the country.

She said that there would be an industry forum in May 2019 to force a consensus on the way forward.

Ms. Owusu-Ekuful also said that a high-level commitment with regulators and operators in the sector had been under way for some time now to promote increased infrastructure sharing and competition with the aim of reducing the costs of telecommunications. # 39; s internet.
