The deputy of Central Tamale and former Minister of Roads and Roads, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, did not choose an application form to participate in the parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Inusah Fuseini, one of the NDC's most prominent members in Parliament, became a member of Parliament in a by-election in 2006 after the departure of outgoing MP Wayo Seini from the NDC to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

This sparked a by-election in the Tamale Central constituency on April 4, 2006, won by Inusah Fuseini.

It successfully held its seat in 2008 with 66% of the votes cast and maintained its seat in 2012 with 61% and in 2016 with 60% of the votes cast.

He would have occupied this seat for 14 years before leaving Parliament.

Although his decision not to participate in the upcoming polls may surprise more than one, the qualified lawyer had hinted that it was months ago that he had decided to go to the polls. withdraw from Parliament.

The former Minister of Roads and Highways said he wanted to give a new person the opportunity to serve the people of Central Tamale.

He also said that he wanted to engage fully in John Mahama's presidential campaign in 2020.

In May 2019, he told party supporters in Tamale, "Even if I do not participate in the 2020 elections, I will still help bring the party back to power in 2020," he promised.

Another notable development regarding primaries in the northern region is the minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu, who is running unopposed in the Tamale South constituency.

This will be the fourth time that he has been fighting the Tamale South siege without competition since 2004.

Sagnarigu MP Alhaji ABA Fuseini will also be in the running with two other candidates, Yakubu M. Ahmed and Fuseini Shammudeen.

A total of 62 applicants selected the forms to be used in 17 of the 18 Northern Region ridings, with applications for Kpandai put on hold.
