Ghanaian police opened an extensive investigation following the death of one of its agents within the mobile force unit in neighboring Togo.

Police in Aflao, in the Volta region, who responded to reports of the incident identified the deceased as Israel Chief Inspector Theophilus Dotse.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had been on Thursday in the Togolese capital, Lome, with a mechanic, Samuel Anyidoho, to buy a car engine.

The deceased who had spent just two days in the city had complained of severe heart pain.

A sum of 350.00 GHC and 7,500 CFA was also given to Superintendent Obrako Bempah, District Commander of Aflao, who led the team in Togo.

The dead body of the deceased was later transferred to Aflao and has since been deposited at the Ketu South Municipal Hospital.

A Toyota Corolla bearing the GE 6100-15 registration number, on board which the deceased and his mechanic were on board, has since been impounded at the Aflao Police Station.

The police, who consider the death suspect, have not yet contacted the family of the deceased at the time of filing this report.
