A two-day workshop aimed at providing investigators and prosecutors with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively combat cybercrime, was completed on Tuesday in Accra.

The workshop was organized by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) in collaboration with the leaders of the Conference of Western Attorneys General, African Alliance Partnership, as well as the Other stakeholders.

Certificates were given to the 50 cybercrime officers who participated in the training.

Police Commissioner Prosper Kwame Agblor, Director General of Legal Services and Prosecution of the Ghana Police Service during the closing ceremony, said the training would allow police officers to investigate and prosecute. effectively the cybercrime business, as simple complicated they can be.

Deputy Police Commissioner (ACP), Mr. George Tweneboah, Deputy Director General of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service, said that the workshop had addressed important issues related to cybersecurity and related issues. cybercrime, investigative procedures, processing and preservation of evidence.

He added that discussions had also been held on cybersecurity and a legal framework on cybercrime that would facilitate investigations and successful prosecution of crimes committed in cyberspace.

ACP Tweneboah said that cybercrime itself is both intra / interinstitutional in nature and that a partnership would be needed to combat the criminal elements of cyber security at this time, in order to foster the rapid growth of the sector. e-commerce.
