The indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB, dismissed as fake news, the alleged report that it linked Governor Nyeson Wike, of Rivers State and Senator Ifeanyi Uba, who represents the senatorial area of Anambra South, in the Senate. with the kidnapping of its leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
A Monday night statement by IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary Emma Powerful titled “We have never linked Senator Ifeanyi Uba and Governor Nyesom Wike to the kidnapping of our leader, regardless of fake news, IPOB, ”described the alleged claim in some quarters. like malicious and unfounded news spread by agents of confusion.
The IPOB statement read in part: “The attention of the global movement of indigenous peoples of Biafra, IPOB, competently led by our grand leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, was drawn to the press statement and the bogus audio. and malicious that are circulating, and claimed to have been published by our media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful.
“In said statement, Powerful allegedly cited Senator Ifeanyi Uba as accusing him; and Governor Nyesom Wike, to collude with enemies and facilitate the betrayal and kidnapping of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in Kenya.
“We therefore wish to dissociate IPOB and Powerful, the false declaration being peddled by agents of confusion. Our publicity secretary has at no time linked Senator Ifeanyi Uba or Governor Nyeson Wike to the perverse betrayal of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
“If they were involved in the dirty case, our investigations into the case will reveal it. But as of yet, we have no evidence to link them to the atrocity. IPOB does not act on the basis of speculation or rumor. Our claims are based on evidence and credible intelligence products.
“Therefore, we caution unscrupulous elements and ‘one-chance politicians’ using the name of IPOB’s media and publicity secretary to issue fake press releases in order to immediately stop such criminality.
“Those behind this evil must know that we will reveal their identity. They can’t hide for too long. They will incur the absolute wrath of IPOB, if they do not stop this nonsense.
“For doubt, IPOB has only linked the betrayal and kidnapping of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, to the Nigerian Ambassador to Kenya, to the Kenyan Ambassador to Wilfred Machage and to the government Nigerian. Other contributors to the heinous crime will be made public on the basis of compelling evidence.
However, for now, we reiterate that Senator Ifeanyi Uba has not been found to be involved. His political opponents should try other ways to settle scores with him and leave the IPOB and our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu out of it.
“We need to find those behind it and they will regret their action for dragging IPOB into zoo politics and for identity theft.
“We therefore urge members of the public to disregard said bogus press release and to avoid any purported statements by IPOB that do not come from a credible source or our usual channels.”
