Babil shared on his social media platform on Friday that the offbeat and unreleased comedy film by his late father, actor Irrfan Khan, Dubai Return, is about to be released on YouTube. Sharing the poster for the 2005 film directed by Aditya Bhattacharya, Babil shared the news on Instagram.

Irrfan’s wife, Sutapa Sikdar, also shared her enthusiasm for the film to finally see the light of day. She wrote: “One of Irrfan’s most original rides, but never made it back to the big screen.” DubaiReturn ‘on YouTube tomorrow #vijaymaura #divyadutta #irrfan. “

The film had its world premiere at the New York Indian Film Festival in 2005. It was also screened at the International Film Festival of India. The film’s theatrical release in India, however, was canceled due to technical and legal issues. For years, the film’s producer, Manya Patil Seth, tried to get her film out and ultimately succeeded as it finally released on the Bandra Film Festival YouTube channel.

Dubai Return will go live on July 4th.

Babil, who, like his father, dreamed of becoming an actor has two projects in his kitty. He packed Anvita Dutt’s Qala for Netflix and is now filming for Shoojit Sircar’s next one.
