The leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Caucus in Parliament is questioning President Akufo-Addo if he can now work with Fomena’s independent MP Andrew Amaoko Asiamah.
According to Haruna Iddrisu, after sacking Mr. Asiamah from 7th Parliament, he is surprised that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is now turning around to find solace in Mr. Asiamah as the two main parties fight for a majority. at the 8th. Parliament.
“I have always said that consistency is important in our political discourse, is Nana Addo Dankwa now ready to work with an independent MP?
“What is the position of the secretary general of the NPP [John Boadu] now? So corporation and collaboration, ”asks Haruna Iddrisu.
He said it was important for the NPP to resolve their differences with Mr. Asiamah if they were to seek more collaboration with him in the future.
“So I will call on the NPP to reconcile their contradictory positions, on one person today they have found him a necessary ally and a friend of a golden friend of one,” said the MP for Tamale South.
Mr Asiamah was removed from his post as a ruling party member following his decision to separate ahead of the 2020 general election.
After deciding to run for office as an independent candidate, President Akufo-Addo said he could not work with the candidates after their split from the party.
He stressed that his work as president requires the support and unwavering loyalty of the people he works with.
In his opinion, due to their break with the Party, independent candidates cannot fully commit to the party’s mandate.
Mr Asiamah was subsequently removed from Parliament by the President, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye.
After winning the seat in Fomena again, the MP officially wrote to the Speaker of Parliament on January 13 to indicate his willingness and readiness to sit with the NPP in the House.
However, Mr Iddrisu said the letter from his college legislature did not match the number of NPP MPs in Parliament to give them 138.
He explained that the moment the MP chooses to join the party, he must leave his seat as an MP.
