Apple's Siri, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant may soon face competition: according to a US media report, Facebook is working on its own language badistant.
According to CNBC, Facebook has been working on a language badistant since early 2018, citing insiders. By the way, it was also reported that the social media group was about to develop a smarthome device with the video chat feature called Portal. Portal arrived in the fall last year in two variants currently on the market.

The device would look like VR Oculus glbades or new materials that could be checked with the upcoming language badistant. The still unnamed language badistant is being developed by the augmented and virtual Reality department, which runs on hardware such as Oculus peripherals, as CNBC says. Information on the language badistant program should come from two former Facebook employees.
The team of developers led by Ira Snyder on Facebook would have already contacted the smart speaker manufacturers. Maybe Facebook is asking for material support for his badistant. But the information is not confirmed.
Until now, similar efforts have not resulted in terms of AI badistants on Facebook. In 2015, the social network launched an artificial intelligence badistant named M for its messaging application. M should help users with intelligent referrals. However, the badistant was highly dependent on human support and could not really triumph. The end of the project arrived in early 2018.
Facebook will not be readily available on the market for properly audited voice badistants or smart speakers. This market is dominated by Amazon with its echo devices and by Google with its home appliances. In Germany, one in eight citizens aged 18 and over uses a smart speaker with digital badistant, as revealed by a study conducted by Bitkom in the fall of 2018. More recently, Amazon Alexa has been criticized for possible interception of users.
