DAVID ASANTE IGP NEW David Asante-Apeatu, Inspector General of Police

A police officer named Sgt. Ebenezer Asiedu reportedly defeated Ghanaian Times journalists on Thursday.

Three journalists who came from a day's work were not spared but were mercilessly beaten by the policeman and nine other policemen in Kinbu, central Accra, for daring to confront the Sgt. Asiedu for having violated the rules of the road traffic.

Sgt. Ebenezer Asiedu also allegedly committed a traffic violation after driving his unregistered motorbike imprudently to hit a vehicle belonging to the Ghanaian Times.

Sending to Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" file, a member of the opposition party's communications team, Bernard Anim Piesie, criticized the Inspector General of Police (IGP) , David Asante-Apeatu, claiming that he had failed to lead the country Security.

Condemning the actions of the police for badaulting the reporters, Anim Piesie asked the IGP and the country's law enforcement to get up from sleep and ensure that they protect the people that they are responsible for protecting.

"Is PGI asleep? The security of the nation is threatened … If a civilian can do justice to himself and do what is in conflict with the law, it means that society is sick. The forces of order must wake up! He loosed.

Anim Piesie called on the Ghana Police Service hierarchy to impose sanctions on the offending police in order to deter others.
