The queen of the country is in love. Reba McEntire has a new man in her life after a difficult divorce in 2015, she recently revealed to People magazine. She spoke to the magazine about her new boyfriend and fell in love in her 60s.
She divorced twice
McEntire is not currently married, although she has been there before. At 21, the rising star of the country marries Charlie Battles, a wrestling champion who is 10 years old. But as his career took off, the relationship deteriorated. Her husband asked her to brake, she refused and the couple separated in 1987 after a little more than a decade together.
"I loved Charlie with all my heart, I wanted to marry her … We had a lot of fun," she said later. But his musical career came first. "I guess I chose my career rather than my marriage," she said.
McEntire remarried soon, this time with his director, Narvel Blackstock. He had three children from a previous marriage and he and McEntire had a son who called Shelby together, who is now a racing car driver. His son-in-law, Brandon Blackstock, is married to Kelly Clarkson.
In 2015, after 26 years together, McEntire and Blackstock divorced. She then confessed that she did not want to end her business with her husband.
"Divorce was not my idea. I did not want it in any form whatsoever, "she said at the time.
Her boyfriend in a retired geologist
After taking the time to heal after the divorce, McEntire regained love with 70-year-old Anthony "Skeeter" Lasuzzo. Fans who follow the singer on Instagram will recognize it because it often shares pictures of their adventures.
Lasuzzo is a retired petroleum geologist who is also an animal photographer. The singer and actress says that the romance took her by surprise.
"I was not looking," she told People. "Not even interested."
The two men met in 2017 while McEntire was on vacation at Jackson Hole.
"We are totally in love – absolutely," she says. "I would not stand for someone for two years if I did not like" em! "
McEntire and Lasuzzo shared their time between Wyoming, Nashville and Texas. And they like to travel together, having already visited Iceland, South Africa and Italy. And he will support her when she hosts the Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas on April 7th. But McEntire admits that it took a while for Lasuzzo to get used to going out with a well-known personality.
"How do you explain my life?" She told People. "How do you explain that some people will review it to say hello?"
