The Starbucks newspapers are yesterday's news.

Starbucks will stop selling the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Gannett newspapers as USA Today in more than 8,600 US stores in September, citing "customer behavior change". Starbucks has been selling The Times since 2000 and other newspapers since 2010.

Indeed, odors and traces of newsprint are in decline. While some newspapers add digital subscribers, weekly newspaper circulation has been reduced by more than half since its peak in the mid-1980s.

The Times is "disappointed" and the Journal confirms that Starbucks is stopping print sales. Gannett did not immediately answer the questions.

This is not the first time that Starbucks has decided that old media is too much for coffee. Remember the CDs? Sales of these ended in 2015. It is not yet known if Starbucks will start selling records, which are once again in fashion.

The New York Post first reported Starbucks' decision to abandon the newspapers.
