The State of Israel paid tribute to the late Major General Francis Vib-Sanziri, former Chief of Mission and Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF).

A road on the Golan Heights in Israel has been named in his honor. The road is now "Vib-Sanziri Road".

This was contained in a statement to the Ghana News Agency by Colonel Eric Aggrey-Quarshie, director of public relations for the Ghana Armed Forces.

The statement said that a quote, read during the inauguration ceremony, indicates that "The Vib-Sanziri Road" is named after Major General Francis Vib-Sanziri (1957-2019) of the Defense Forces of the Ghana, who was chief of missions and commander of the force. UNDOF 2017-2019.

"He was a real peace fighter who played a key role in many peacekeeping operations around the world.

"The State of Israel congratulates Maj Gen F Vib-Sanziri for his commitment to the stability and security of Israelis and Syrians.

"We will remember him as a true partner, a great leader and especially a visionary," the statement said.

Major General Francis Vib-Sanziri died on Friday, April 19, 2019 in Israel while he was commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF).

He was buried on Friday, June 28, 2019 at the New Accra Military Cemetery, Ghana.
