Researchers at Tel Aviv University in Israel unveiled a 3D printed heart with human tissues and vessels.
Adipose tissue taken from patients during a biopsy was used to create the "ink" for heart printing.
Calling this a "major breakthrough", scientists hope the technology will produce hearts suitable for transplantation in humans as well as patches to repair or regenerate defective hearts.
Challenges include finding a way to generate enough cells to create the tissue needed to "print" a human-sized heart.
