Veteran Ghanaian singer Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, popularly known as Mzbel, insists the 2020 presidential ballot was rigged to favor the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mzbel is among strong supporters of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) who have expressed deep mistrust of the final results of the 2020 presidential election.

Speaking on Between Hours of Asaase Radio hosted by Naa Ashorkor on Friday January 15, the famous highlife singer claimed that the NDC won the presidential election.

“ I feel like our democracy was thrown somewhere because it’s clear that we won the elections – the presidential election in particular, we won, ” Mzbel said.

And looking at what happened recently in parliament, it is clear that this was a stolen verdict in favor of the NPP … what happened in parliament confirms that we have every right to [to go to court], ” she pointed out.

The 16-year-old singer has indicated that although she supports the NDC’s decision to challenge the ” fictitious ” results of the 2020 general election to the Supreme Court, she is skeptical of a positive outcome in favor of the party.

Mzbel, however, revealed that she has no political aspirations as she noted that she contributes to the NDC by addressing issues that serve the interests of the party.

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh previously reported that the Supreme Court had granted John Mahama’s request to amend some errors in his petition challenging the outcome of the 2020 presidential race.

In his petition, Mahama mistakenly asked the court to order a resumption of elections between him and the Election Commission (EC) instead of President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Allowing the motion to amend, the court ruled that the typographical errors sought to be corrected did not have a material impact on the merits of the case.
