Pro Piacenza, from northern Italy, in financial difficulty, has not been able to pay its players and staff, on strike for several weeks.
Before Sunday's game in Cuneo in Piedmont, in northern Italy, the opposing club, Pro Piacenza, had already lost three matches.
So they joined the field with seven players, all teenagers born between 2000 and 2002. An eighth player could not initially have forgotten his identity papers and came into play after one hour.
One of the two players born in 2000 was named coach on the match sheet. A physiotherapist from the team even made his entry on the field at one point to replace a player suffering from cramps.
Italian Football Federation President Gabriele Gravina called the match "an insult to sport" and promised it would be "the last joke".
Judge Pasquale Marino, Lega Pro judge, said Monday that Pro Piacenza would be excluded from the C series, the "farcial match" being attributed to a 3-0 defeat.
In a statement, Lega Pro criticized the "unacceptable behavior of Pro Piacenza" which, according to her, was also dangerous for players who had not been adequately prepared from a competition point of view.
The physio of the team, Alessio Picciarelli, came into play to replace a player, was disqualified until 31 December 2019.
Pro Piacenza will also have to pay a fine of 20,000 euros ($ 22,615).
The third Italian division, made up of 20 teams, is professional in Italy, but many clubs have financial problems.
Last week, Matera was banned from the league after losing a fourth game with his players on strike since December, having not been paid since September.
