It’s not my job to teach MPs how to vote – John Boadu “ hits ” Carlos Ahenkorah

In his justification for his decision to snatch the ballots, Carlos Ahenkorah, MP for Tema West accused the New Patriotic Party of failing to show leadership in electing the speaker of the eighth parliament.

Carlos Ahenkorah told Okay FM that while the secretary general of the National Democratic Congress, Asiedu Nketia used sign language to tell his deputies how they should behave at night, the NPP general secretary was nowhere to be found.

He said the reason he snatched the ballots and allegedly chewed some was to force a re-run of the ballot box, but his leaders let him down by accepting the NDC’s request for Alban Bagbin to be declared winner.

John Boadu, who was present in Parliament overnight, responded to these assertions from Carlos Ahenkorah.

According to Boadu, he performed his duties as planned and was in constant communication with the leadership of NPP deputies to ensure that the party’s goals in the polls were met.

“Masa, he should stop saying that. I entered the room but the NDC deputies protested. We have dealt with the leadership of deputies of nuclear power plants. If I sat at the top doing sign language, what would happen? I was in the lobby, he can check with Afenyo-Markin and management and he will know what we have done. Even when they finished counting the votes and the incident happened, I had to make my way to the lobby. I was there everywhere, from 10 am to 10 pm ”.

John Boadu said he couldn’t be blamed for the decision of some NPP MPs to vote against the party’s choice.

He told Ahenkorah on Okay FM that as general secretary he had no role to play in deciding who party MPs would vote for.

“As an MP, if not for questions, it is the duty of the Secretary General to show you where you should vote. You are 137 plus an independent candidate making 138, so if everyone voted for our candidate, there would be a problem. Do you need a general secretary for sign language before you vote? What are we saying? What did he want me to do. Tell him to choose the ballots? We should stop saying that, ”he said.
