Arbitrator Theresa Bremansu attacked
Referee Theresa Bremansu said she was attacked as a result of a special competition match reserved for women's standardization committee involving Prison Ladies and Darkoa Ladies Ampem Sunday.
At his first interview after the incident, the referee compared the attack of which she was the object to that of an armed robber.
The first leg of the semi-final match played at Army Park in Sunyani ended 1-0 in favor of Ampem Darkoa. The result was unsatisfactory with a supporter of the Prison Ladies who ran on the pitch and defeated the mediocre referees.
"I was attacked by a prison officer who wore a black top under the public eye. I screamed for help but no one came to my rescue. I called for his arrest and no one moved a finger. They all saw this man beat me, "Bremansu recounted his ordeal.
"I was beaten like an armed robber," she added.
The standardization committee has not commented on the incident yet.
