J Hus made a surprise appearance on stage with Drake at London's O2, four months after being incarcerated for wearing a knife.

The rapper was sentenced to eight months in jail behind bars in December after being picked up with the gun at the Westfield Shopping Center in East London.

He served less than half of that.

"We are about to celebrate one of our brothers tonight," Drake told the crowd, before the words "Welcome Home" appeared on the scene.

"You missed me so much, I swear you missed me so much," J Hus said as he joined Drake on stage.

"I've been waiting all week to be able to give you this step so you can do exactly what you expected," Drake said.

It's unclear when J Hus was released from prison – but it has been suggested it was maybe the same day as the performance of O2.

However, some people have wondered if J Hus should be "celebrated" following numerous knife attacks in the UK this year.

A "model for many"

J Hus – whose real name is Momodou Jallow – was imprisoned on December 14, 2018 after he admitted carrying a knife in a public place.

Judge Sandy Canavan told the rapper that he was a "model for many" but "failed" to leave his past behind him.

"In a life so young, it's the fourth time you come out armed with a knife," she said.

After previous arrests, J Hus explained that his fear of wearing a knife was justified.

Drake: "We are so happy to see him at home"

After the concert, Drake shared a photo of the couple kissing on his Instagram account, claiming that his April 5 show had a "different energy" because of the appearance of J Hus and that people were "really all so happy" to see him at home.

J Hus did not comment on his appearance with Drake, but shared Drake's photo – as well as a photo of his management team – in his Instagram narrative.

Tiffany Calver, of Radio 1 and 1Xtra, who supported Drake on her O2 broadcasts, tweeted a picture of herself and J Hus behind the scenes during the show, repeating Drake's welcome message.

Will and Libby, a couple present at the show, tell Newsbeat that the atmosphere was "unreal".

"We did not know that J Hus was going to be there, lots of people were saying Giggs was going to be there," Will said.

"It really started, the crowd was unleashed, J Hus and Drake hugging them, everyone had a bad time," said Libby.

J Hus stated that he "was not in the right state of mind"

During his trial, the court heard that J Hus, of Baldwin Drive, Peterborough, was in his car with his girlfriend – who was driving – when they were arrested by police officers after smelling cannabis.

When asked if he was wearing anything that he should not, he revealed that he was carrying a 10 cm folding knife.

At the hearings, J Hus apologized and stated that he "fully accepted that his actions were negligent".

He told the court that wearing the knife was "misguided" and "completely stupid", adding, "I was not in the right state of mind".

"I am deeply sorry and I regret my stupid actions."
