The prequel to Paramount’s 2019 horror movie “Pet Sematary” is coming and the creators have just added actor Pam Grier to the film. Pam is best known for her role in the 1997 movie “Jackie Brown”
Grier joins the long list of the cast which includes Jackson White, Forrest Goodluck, Jack Mulhern, Natalie Alyn Lind and Isabella Star LeBlanc. The film still has no title and will begin filming in August. The prequel will debut exclusively on Paramount Plus. No release date announced for the moment.
According to Variety, the next film will serve as the origin story for Stephen King’s novel about a family who discovers a rather eerie graveyard in the woods behind their home.
The film marks the feature debut of Lindsey Beer, who previously wrote the screenplay for Netflix’s coming-of-age film “Sierra Burgess Is a Loser.” Screenwriter Jeff Buhler returns to write the script. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian produce.
Mary Lambert directed “Pet Sematary” from 1989 and a 2019 adaptation was directed by Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer. The 2019 franchise film was a box office success, grossing over $ 100 million worldwide on a budget of $ 21 million.
