Apparently some senior Marvel officials wanted the “Guardians of the Galaxy” CGI character to look more like Bradley Cooper.
James Gunn has yet to weigh in on Warner Bros.’s decision. to move his 2021 comic book mast from “The Suicide Squad” to a theatrical-HBO Max hybrid version, but he used social media this Christmas week to shed some light on his past movie comic. During a question-and-answer session with fans, Gunn revealed he had an internal flashback when editing his favorite Marvel 2014 “Guardians of the Galaxy” on Bradley Cooper’s voice work as as CGI character Rocket Raccoon.
“One executive – who is no longer with Marvel Studios / Disney – saw a first cut and said, ‘Why did we pay money for Bradley Cooper if he doesn’t even look like Bradley Cooper !?’ “Gunn revealed. “I was like, we hired him because he’s a great actor. That’s the point! It creates a CHARACTER! “
Oddly enough, Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon looks like a thicker, angrier Bradley Cooper. The Oscar-nominated actor voiced Rocket in Gunn’s two “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, plus “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame,” and he will return for Gunn’s “Guardians” third outing at the same time. ‘to come up. While answering another fan question, Gunn said his dream comic book team movie included Rocket and Groot from the “Guardians” franchise joining forces with his new CGI “Suicide Squad” characters Weasel and King Shark. .
Marvel Studios has not announced a specific production start date for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, ”although parent company Disney confirmed earlier this month, Gunn will also be writing and directing a“ Guardians ”special for the Disney + streaming service.

My pitch for Guardians was a 19 page document on visuals, a huge sequence I scripted (Morag’s escape), and a full presentation with visuals, references, and actors. My pitch for 2 was basically: “His father is Ego the Living Planet!” Marvel was like, “Cool, come on!” https://t.co/bltLnybdpA

No, that was exactly what it ended up being. But, to me, Guardians ARE serious. These are incredibly damaged characters who secretly want to hook up but just don’t have the tools to do so. Just because a story has humor and color doesn’t mean it doesn’t take me seriously. https://t.co/k3Xp7tJimD
