Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher believes Jurgen Klopp will not extend his contract to Anfield and urged his former club to sign the contract with Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho, former star of the Reds, has a hard time winning in Barcelona since his departure from Anfield in January 2018; he could be ousted this summer while Ernesto Valverde's team seeks an agreement to bring Neymar back to Camp Nou.
This led to links suggesting that Coutinho might be on his way back to Merseyside but Liverpool showed no sign of signing the Brazilian.
However, Carragher thinks it could be the missing link to thwart Manchester City looking for the Premier League title next season.
"I still think that they can improve in the middle of the field.I always think that they could add a creative player. They tried to sign one last season in [Nabil] He and Fekir left this summer for a lot less money, "he told Pundit Arena.
"I already said, I would like to see Liverpool bring back Coutinho if that were possible anyway. It obviously did not work for him in Barcelona.I just think it would be a great addition.
"You have [Adam] Lallana and [Xherdan] Shaqiri occupies these posts but they are not Coutino. It would give something that they did not compare to City. "
Carragher also pitched a challenge to European champions in the next four years: to win as much as possible under Klopp, after acknowledging that he did not see German staying at Anfield beyond his current contract.
He added: "This group of players must look into these next three or four years, as Klopp is still three years old on his contract.
"I do not know if he would sign another. He stayed in a club for only seven years.
"Over the next three years, do not just say, we won the Champions League, you want the league, it's obvious.

"But [they could look back and say] "We had the FA Cup and two Carabao Cups". They have competitions this year, the World Cup clubs, the Super Cup, just choose as much as possible before he leaves.
"And I hope that in the next two or three years, one of them will be the league for Klopp.
The Klopp team ends its tour in the United States on Thursday by meeting the Portuguese Sporting team for the very first game between the two clubs.
