Jan Oblak ready to leave Atletico Madrid for transfer from Man Utd

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak wants to leave the Spanish club to become David de Gea's replacement for Manchester United, according to a report.

ESPN FC claims that the Slovenian – who was apparently a fan of United in his youth – has become increasingly frustrated with the transfer activity at Wanda Metropolitano this summer, while he's seen the news. Diego Simeone's team weaken.

Star striker Antoine Griezmann has announced his intention to leave the club and is expected to join Barcelona.

But Atletico also loses veteran defenders Diego Godin, Juanfran and Filipe Luis, as well as young talent Lucas Hernandez to German giant Bayern Munich for record fees.

Oblak would be disappointed with the departures, saying they denoted a lack of competitiveness of the club, which he had ensured earlier this year when he signed a new agreement in the Spanish capital until 2023.

ESPN FC quoted a source as saying that Oblak was very disappointed with Atletico's list of potential substitutes for Griezmann and now wanted to compete in the Premier League.

The Paris Saint-Germain also plans to replace outgoing President Gianluigi Buffon, as well as De Gea.

The future of the Spanish international at Old Trafford is unclear, following a stalemate in the contract talks and a serious downturn towards the end of the season.

A key member of Atletico since joining in 2014, Oblak is widely regarded as the best goalkeeper in La Liga and has won the Zamora Award for best blocker in the division for the fourth time.
