Cardiff made a dramatic step in his attempt to avoid relegation by shattering his transfer record.
The Bluebirds have decided to recruit Emiliano Sala from the French formation of Nantes for an undisclosed club record.
Sala has scored 12 goals in 19 Ligue 1 games this season, and joins a three-and-a-half year contract.
The Argentine striker could now join the striker, his new striker, Oumar Nibade, after replacing Everton on Friday.
Nibade was loaned by Neil Warnock's team until the end of the season while he was trying to beat the decline.

The 28-year-old joined the Toffees only for a £ 13.5m contract in 2016, but he is deemed surplus to needs at Goodison Park.
Chelsea opened the January transfer window with brio by taking Christian Pulisic.
The Blues attacked Borussia Dortmund to seize American ace Pulisic in a contract worth 58 million pounds sterling, before lending it to the Bundesliga club until the the end of the season.
Many other Premier League clubs have already signed contracts.

The window is officially open to the public until January 31st and closes at 11pm (GMT). Later transfers after this date would not be eligible to play for their new club before the following season.
