"James Gunn's script will be a new approach and rethink the property."
By Brian Barnett
Fans of Jared Leto's portrayal in Suicide Squad by Jared Leto may have disappointing news, as it seems that Leto's Joker solo film is perhaps more topical.
According to Forbes, Leto's Joker movie "fell apart" with the "Mad Love Joker and Harley Quinn movie". The Suicide Squad, herself, will go ahead with some kind of "soft restart", and Forbes reports that Harley's Margot Robbie should not come back for the sequel.
"The sequel to Suicide Squad (…) should have a new group of characters and avoid a direct link with the events of the first film," reports Forbes. "Harley Quinn should not come back, and James Gunn's script will be a new approach and rethink the property."
"With Gunn as a director, the movie has a lot of space to bring a new flavor to the series and the world of DC movies."
The reports on Leto's Joker movie began to surface last year, sources claiming that Leto would play the lead and produce the project. Later, an original Joker movie with Joaquin Phoenix (and including Bruce Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth) was also announced, which finished shooting at the end of last year.
