STXfilms has programmed its hustler club drama "Hustlers", starring Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu and Cardi B, for a September 13th release to North America.
Lopez announced the date on his Instagram account on Monday.
Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer, Julia Stiles and Mercedes Ruehl are also part of the cast. The film is directed by Lorene Scafaria.
The film, originally premiered in Annapurna under the title "The Hustlers at Scores," is inspired by an article by Jessica Pressler published in New York Magazine. It takes place in New York City in the aftermath of the financial crisis and follows a team of knowledgeable former strip club employees who have banded together to tip their clients' ideas to Wall Street.
STXfilms produces alongside Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina – who has already collaborated with the studio for the second romantic comedy "2018" – as well as Adam McKay, Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum for Gloria Sanchez Productions. Kate Vorhoff and Catherine Hagedorn oversee the production of the film for the studio. STXinternational handles international distribution and distributes directly to the UK and Ireland.
The release date is a week after the launch of "It: Chapter Two" by Warner Bros. "Hustlers" is the third title dated September 13, joining Warner's drama "The Goldfinch" and the animation of "Spies in Disguise".
