"Jimmy Kimmel, it's a real place!": Gonzaga's students prove that they exist

SPOKANE, Wash. – This is not like they had never heard it before. They never heard from anyone like Jimmy Kimmel.

"When I talk to people about Gonzaga, they tell me," Where is it? "Said Eloïsa Serrano, a senior of GU.

Kimmel asked the same question Monday night in his monologue on the NCAA tournament, but went one step further.

"I have a theory, I know it might be controversial, but here it is: I do not believe that Gonzaga exists," said the night host. "I have never heard the word" Gonzaga "outside of college basketball, I do not know where he is, I do not know anyone who went there, I do not even know anyone who knows someone who went there. "

"I know for a fact that it's not just basketball," said junior Kevin Makens. "We have a library right there!"

Kimmel posted the video on his Twitter on Tuesday and met hundreds of fans willing to restore the facts.

"This is not surprising to me," said freshman Cameron Holton. "Some of my friends thought I was in Indiana when I went to school."

KXLY spoke Wednesday to a handful of students on the (very real) campus, who told us that even after 20 consecutive trips in the NCAA tournament, Gonzaga is still fighting for the respect he deserves .

"We simply do not have the reputation even though we have earned our right to have that reputation," Makens said. "There is no respect for us because we come from the WCC."

Respect or no respect, Visit Spokane will take what they can get.

"My first reaction was:" He talks about Gonzaga, more than other schools, and I think it's a positive thing, "said Kate Hudson, public relations manager. "It's priceless, really, if you really want to put a monetary value on it, it's probably millions of dollars in advertising."

The campus – and the students' love for their school – is as real as possible.

"If anything looks like that, part of our charm is that we are so small," said Senator Daisy Montalvo.

The Zags say that it is only normal that Kimmel goes to the Kennel. The Kimmel team tells KXLY that it is intended for the next best thing: a video message specifically recorded for Spokane about the monologue.
