A few days ago, on February 17 to be precise, social media and mainstream media were inundated with news of the death of Richard Dombo, Managing Director of the Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA).
Richard Dombo until his death from the complications of Covid-19 was the son of Chief Simon Diedong Dombo who was one of the founding fathers of the Northern People’s Party, which later merged with the tradition of the United Party (UP ) which gave birth to the New Patriotic Party.
It is in this context that the former minister in charge of railway development and deputy for Essikadu-Ketan in the Western region praised him for his praise.
Joe Ghartey in his little tribute on social media said: “Unbelievable. Dombo’s passing is undoubtedly a loss for his family but it is also a great loss for the rail industry.”
The minister’s statement added: “The role that the Ghana Railway Development Authority, headed by Richard Dombo, has played in the development of a new modern standard gauge rail network over the past four years cannot be overstated.”
Here is the full statement from the former Minister of Rail Development:
Joe Ghartey writes:
Dombo has passed !! Unbelievable. Dombo’s death is undoubtedly a loss for his family, but it is also a great loss for the rail industry. The role that the Ghana Railway Development Authority, led by Richard Dombo, has played in the development of a new modern standard gauge rail network over the past four years cannot be overstated. What can we say if not to quote Shakespeare, who reminds us that the world is only one scene, each man having his entry and his exit. As difficult as it may be, the Good Book tells us that we have come from the dust and will return to the dust. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. Blessed be his holy name. Richard, until we meet again on the day of resurrection, rest in perfect peace.
