Jofra Archer: The England does not choose his bowler in the provisional World Cup team

England did not choose squadron Jofra Archer in a preliminary World Cup squad of 15 players, but named him in the teams for preparation matches against Pakistan and Ireland.

Born in Barbados, Archer, 24, is qualified to play in England in March after a change of residence rules.

He could still be part of the World Cup team if he impresses in the warm-up matches, as changes can be made until May 23rd.

England will face Ireland on May 3 before a five-game series against Pakistan.

"The selection board was impressed by Jofra Archer's performances in national cricket and cricket," said national selector Ed Smith.

"He's a very talented and exciting cricketer."

Englishman Chris Woakes said on Tuesday that it would not be "morally right" to choose Archer for the World Cup, hosted by England and Wales, which will start May 30th.

Susbad's Archer has an English father and a British pbadport. He became eligible to play for England on March 17 thanks to the creation by the Cricket Board of England and Wales (ECB) of new residence rules on January 1.
