John Dumelo lists elections he contested, won and lost during his lifetime

National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, has revealed the number of times he has contested for positions in his quest to serve.

The actor’s dream of representing his party in the 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic was crushed after his defeat to outgoing MP Lydia Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party.

Certified results from the Election Commission showed that the poll of NDC candidates was 37,778 compared to 39,851 for Lydia Alhassan. Gifty Botchway of the National People’s Congress (PNC) and independent candidate Richard Amegatse won 160 and 108 votes respectively.

Barely two weeks after the statement, Mr Dumelo encouraged himself in a social media post with his accomplishments in the previous election as well as the numbers he polled in the election that just ended.

“In 2004, I represented KNUST Queens Hall Secretary, I lost. In 2005, I represented KNUST Organizing Secretary, Association of Civil Engineering Students, I won ”, we read in his message on Sunday.

“In 2019, I represented the parliamentary primaries of the NDC, I won. On December 7, 2020, I was MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, I lost.

“The truth is, every time I lose I come back stronger because I don’t see it as a loss, I see it as a journey to perfection. It is only when you are depressed that you appreciate what it takes to get up. “

Dumelo had previously called for a recount “of all the ballot boxes in the electoral district” on the grounds that “several irregularities” had been identified in some of the polling centers, in particular “the exchange of my figures and that of the NPP candidate’s figures in the polling centers ”. .

But he notices in his Sunday post that he’s ready to do his part to keep voters comfortable.
