Morgan Stanley's Havens release was marked by drama, according to the profile of his longtime friend and business partner Pandit in the 2009 edition of New York Magazine.
The profile indicates that Havens was part of a group that had attempted to overturn Phil Purcell, then president and CEO, in 2005. Purcell eventually resigned, but not before overthrowing Havens and Pandit.
According to the report, Havens left a standing ovation at Morgan Stanley on the trading floor.
