Jordan Henderson said the Liverpool players were savoring the excitement of the title race.

Liverpool will face Manchester United on Sunday at Old Trafford in a huge match for the Premier League contenders.

And the skipper of Anfield said: "There is no free swing when you play for Liverpool and it should not be.

"No one here wants to be an underdog or outsider – our entire team always wants to be expected because it means you perform at the highest level."

Some Liverpool fans want the Reds to give priority to the Premier League over the Champions League, but Henderson said they would not win anything if they did it.

"This season, there have been external discussions about the opportunity to prioritize some competitions over others," he said.

Henderson says the Reds will win every game

"The discussions did not take place in Melwood. There is no need to prioritize, so we do not do it.

"In every game we have to have the attitude that the priority is to win. It's so simple.

"If you start thinking that we would win this or that sooner, then you will fail.

"If you give yourself an excuse, you will find yourself without anything, we do not seek and take no excuse, never."

Virgil van Dijk also echoed Henderson's sentiments by saying, "We have a fantastic team, we have all the tools, [but] obviously we have to do it. "
