Jose Enrique is clear after removing a brain tumor

Former Liverpool and Newcastle defender Jose Enrique revealed that the doctors had given him the green light after being operated on to remove a brain tumor last May.

The 33-year-old Spaniard said in an Instagram post that it was "down and up" after receiving his first MRI scan results.

Enrique was diagnosed with chordoma, a rare type of tumor that usually develops at the base of the skull and spinebut he trained behind his eye and was told that he could lose his sight.

Enrique retired as a result of a chronic knee injury in September 2017 while he was playing for Real Zaragoza, Spain's second division.

He made 127 appearances for Newcastle after joining Villarreal in 2007 for 6.3 million pounds. It was signed by Liverpool for £ 6 million in the summer of 2011.
