Jose Mourinho refused to publicly support Chelsea's decision to appoint Frank Lampard as the new director.

Lampard was named earlier this month as a substitute for Maurizio Sarri and is believed to have impressed Chelsea players with his intense training during his early stages at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho, meanwhile, remains unemployed after being sacked by Manchester United last December.

Lampard was one of Mourinho's key players in Chelsea. They won two Premier League titles as well as the FA Cup during their stint together at Stamford Bridge.

Despite their success, Mourinho refused the opportunity to send a message of support to Lampard during his trip to Silverstone on Saturday.

Sky Sports asked him if Lampard was the right date for Chelsea. Mourinho waved and said, "I do not mean football. My football? I do not have a football now. '

When asked if he wanted to return to management, Mourinho replied, "I am, but I will wait for the right club, the right project.

"And in the meantime, I do things I like to do.

"I prefer to work, but I love other sports and it's a good opportunity to practice."
