Midfielder Josh Vela will bring "energy and competitive advantage" after signing for Hibernian, manager Paul Heckingbottom said.
The 25-year-old joins Easter Road with a three-year contract after leaving Bolton Wanderers.
He spent 17 years with the English club and played 182 games.
"Josh is a full midfielder capable of sustaining attacks and playing on the front foot, which helps us recover the ball," said Heckingbottom.
"It was worth the wait and I'm glad we were patient to land."
Vela, who debuted at Bolton in the Premier League as a teenager, played 17 league games last season while the club in financial distress was relegated.
"Hibernian persisted when I received offers from other teams and this played an important role in my coming here," he said.
"Every player wants to feel wanted and I've been really impressed by everything I've heard and then by what I saw when I came to watch myself.
"The manager has explained in detail what he expects of me – as a person and tactically – and I feel that I can help him achieve what he wants to do with it. the club."
Vela, who also has experience in the right back, is the seventh signing of Hibs' summer.
