ANTHONY JOSHUA: The defense of the US world title against Jarrell Miller broke the pre-sales record of Madison Square Garden.
And it only took TWO HOURS to become the most profitable pre-sale in the history of the arena.
Defending Joshua's heavyweight title against Miller has more presales than Muhammad Ali's world title after three years against Joe Frazier in 1971 and the famous first meeting between Sugar Ray Robinson and Jake LaMotta in 1942.
The last record holder was for the fight between Gennady Golovkin and David Lemieux on October 17, 2015.
About 6,000 tickets in presale would have been sold for this middleweight fight – at that time, it was the largest number of events ever organized for boxing in New York.
But AJ vs. Miller has now gone beyond that.
AJ's promoter, Eddie Hearn, was naturally delighted to hear the news, easing the shock of fighting Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte.
Hearn said, "We know that AJ is a huge box office success in the UK, but breaking the pre-sales record of the iconic Madison Square Garden is staggering.
"We are organizing a huge event on June 1st and we look forward to all this accumulation from the press conference in New York next Tuesday."
The boss of Matchroom first announced the news on his Twitter account.

Even the Madison Square Garden marquee president, Joel Fisher, urged fans to pick up their tickets as soon as possible, warning that the fight would sell out soon.
He said, "We are delighted by the excitement of the tickets.
"Anthony Joshua versus Jarrell Miller will be an epic event at Madison Square Garden, and we encourage fans to buy tickets now, as this fight will sell out beautifully."
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, February 19 at noon.
