The Lagos High Court has issued an arrest warrant against former Super Eagles captain, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, for having ridiculed the court over the reasons why it was not possible for the court to be ruled out. had not paid his taxes.
Okocha was dragged to court by the Lagos State Department of Justice for failing to submit income tax returns.
The complaint was filed on June 6, 2017.
When the case was raised for the first time on October 5, 2017, Okocha did not appear in court.
Okocha also did not appear after several adjournments were granted to allow him to do so.
The frustrated prosecutor urged the court to issue a warrant for his arrest.
On January 29, Judge Adedayo Akintoye of the High Court of Igbosera issued an arrest warrant against Okocha and adjourned the proceedings until 19 February.
Okocha has still not been able to show up on Tuesday.
Judge Akintoye adjourned the proceedings until 15 April 2019 for the execution of the arrest warrant on Okocha.
