JUSAG said the court service was also dragging its feet in the beginning of the 2019 promotion
The Ghana Judicial Service Association (JUSAG) has asked the Judicial Service to implement the promotions of its members, as indicated in an evaluation report, within two weeks, otherwise the group "Will be obliged to advise."
The virtual ultimatum was contained in a letter dated July 8, 2019, signed by JUSAG Secretary General Derrick Annan, and addressed to Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo.
According to the badociation, the judicial department did not implement the 2018 promotion and development report for staff despite numerous meetings with JUSAG in which The badociation had expressed concern about the delay.
In addition, the Judiciary has been slow to begin the staff promotion and development exercise for 2019, JUSAG added.
"The leaders of JUSAG have noted with deep concern the excessive delays in the implementation of promotion and modernization policies within the judicial service.
This is underlined by the management's lax position, especially during the implementation of the 2018 promotion and upgrade report, "says the letter.
JUSAG stated that the delay in the implementation of the promotion and upgrade report had a negative effect on the well-being of its members.
"Respectfully, as you may be aware, delays with these promotion and development exercises affect the income and pensions expected of qualified staff and, as such, the Association makes a serious exception. any attempt to deprive or prevent the legitimate benefits of the personnel, "the letter said.
The badociation has therefore asked the management of the judiciary to take immediate steps to implement the 2018 promotion report and deploy activities to revive the 2019 promotion and modernization exercise.
"If the management does not respond to the concerns by Friday 19 July 2019 at the latest, the badociation will be obliged to make itself known accordingly," the letter added.
Strike
Since 2015, JUSAG has started a strike on three occasions to put pressure on its demands so that its members benefit from better conditions of service.
The most recent was a 10-day strike that was canceled by the badociation on June 1, 2016.
The members of the badociation began the strike because of the government's inability to consolidate the salaries and allowances approved by the Judicial Council in 2012.
In March 2016, the badociation declared a national strike supposed to start on April 1, 2016, but canceled it after receiving government badurances that the process of consolidating the salaries and allowances of its members would start on Monday. April 4, 2016.
It did not happen.
