Jurgen Klopp said he regretted rival fans who prayed that another title for Liverpool would fail.
The German manager said he would not use the tactics of Sir Alex Ferguson's siege mentality, despite the number of people appearing to be opposing his team.
The common emotion among supporters across the country seems to be a fear that the Reds are finally lifting their hoodoo title … and the desire to see them fail in this 29-year quest to become champions again.
Yet the boss of Anfield said that he did not think to use the feelings of "Anyone But Liverpool" to create a bond between us and the world, as Ferguson did so well during years at Manchester United.
Instead, Klopp says that he feels sympathy for those who want his team to lose.
"I never thought about it," he said of any seism-mentality tactics. "I like to win because I win and not because someone else has to lose.
"I can not take a personal boost after winning and thinking I lost. I'm not like that.
"If people think like that and get something out of the fact that we will not win the league, I support it. I can not use them to motivate me because they are not people who interest me, to be honest.
"It's a waste of time for me to think of someone who is losing something – if you win, you win and you deserve it." Congratulations. Continue. "That's how I see it.
Liverpool is a strange case in football.
Klopp himself is an eminently likeable coach that most opponents would like to have in their club. It has many humble and down-to-earth players, not arrogant despite their status.
Yet fans of clubs like United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal – as well as, of course, Everton – seem to suggest that they would like all side to win the title more than the Reds.
Klopp insists that he is not aware of the feeling, even though he can guess where hate is coming from!
"I do not know who thinks so about us, but in Manchester, he probably does not have a lot of Liverpool supporters," he added.

"Unfortunately, I do not know enough people in England and people I know – even if they are Evertonians and know me personally – they think that IF we are not, then you can win it. It's still Liverpool [the city].
"But it's not a surprise that the people of Manchester do not want us to win!"
Klopp has some injury concerns for visiting Crystal Palace on Saturday and will await the latest fitness tests from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Gini Wijnaldum before appointing his team.
If both are unfit, James Milner will replace the back and Fabinho will be in the middle of the field.
