Just Eat – the online food delivery market whose IPO was introduced but which is under increasing pressure, including Uber and Deliveroo – decided to add to its talent by buying Practi, a software Which independent restaurants and small chains with point of sale management systems and restaurants on tablets.
The acquisition cost is £ 6.7m ($ 8.7m) initially, and future payments are contingent on the company achieving certain milestones.
The hope is that it will strengthen Just Eat's commitment to catering partners on its platform, either by deploying new tablets with new restaurants, or by integrating Practi software into Just Eat's order books. By using the orders, Just Eat effectively "locks" these restaurants because it integrates both payment systems, cash and card payments, inventory, kitchen operations and employee management systems, all in one place. a single software package grouping several devices.
Previously, Just Eat had acquired Flyt, which connected the Just Eat platform to the existing point-of-sale systems of the restaurant chains. Instead, the Practi platform will be used to target restaurants that do not already have point of sale and restaurant management systems.
Practi's founders, Ohad Folman and Edan Folman, will remain to run the business.
