Juventus rejected Arsenal's loan offer to Daniele Rugani, his Italian international.

Arsenal cleared his transfer record Thursday to sign Nicolas Pepe of Lille for £ 72m, adding to their recent take of Dani Ceballos and William Saliba.

Despite the strong activity, Unai Emery still wants to strengthen a defense that scored 51 goals in the Premier League last season and surrendered in the final of the Europa League against Chelsea.

Captain Lauren Koscielny is still on strike to try to prepare for her return to France, while Saliba will return to Saint-Etienne with a one-year loan to continue his development in Ligue 1.

Rob Holding is getting closer to his first team comeback after 10 months with a serious knee injury, but the sight of Shkodran Mustafi giving Moussa Dembele the winning goal at the Emirates Cup last Sunday underscored the urgent need for Defensive reinforcements for Arsenal.

According to Goal, the North London club has offered a two-year loan to Rugani, with an option to buy, but which was rejected by the Italian champions.

Rugani has played only 20 appearances in all competitions last season, but he wants to defeat the successor of Max Allegri, Maurizio Sarri.

This task was made more difficult by the arrival of Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax, but Juventus is reluctant to lose this 25-year-old player due to concerns raised by his veteran center, Giorgio Chiellini.
