The Savannah Regional Co-ordination Council has announced a 10,000 GHc reward for any person or group whose information would help recover the stolen vehicle from their Toyota Hilux van.

The missing Toyota Hilux pickup was one of the new vehicles recently handed over by President Akufo-Addo to the new Savannah area.

The vehicle, a white Toyota Hilux, registered under number ER 3516 -19, was seized on 4 July by two armed men in Tamale.

The robbery allegedly took place at the home of a certain Alhaji Illiasu, a friend of the regional minister, where the vehicle had been parked while Minister Salifu Adam Braimah was missing, according to reports. However, conflicting information indicates that the vehicle was stolen from the minister's driver, Opoku Kwadjo Evans.

Two people, Alhaji Suleimana Illiasu, a plaintiff but a suspect, and Opoku Kwadjo Evans, the driver, were arrested by the police because their statements "are inconsistent," police said.

Police in the North Region have since opened investigations into the case and also invited the general public to provide information.

A statement issued Tuesday, July 23 by the spokesman of the North Region Police under the supervision of the Savannah area, Supt. Mohammed Tanko Yusif, urged the public to "step up its badistance to the police.

He claimed that any person or group whose information would allow the arrest and recovery of said vehicle would receive the reward in cash.

"Anyone with information about the suspects or the vehicle should contact the police at the following numbers to find out what steps to take: 0245976618 or 0242055550," the statement added.
