Dr. Kwabena Donkor reminded the Minister of Energy, Peter Amewu, his advice when the NPP was in opposition and that he was responsible for power in the country.
According to the MP for Pru East, he told the head of the energy think tank of the day, Energy Minister ACEP, to keep his words in mind when Ghana struggled with serious energy problems that Ghanaians dubbed "dumsor".
"Let me remind him as he once declared himself. About three years ago, I told him, when he was at CAPE, that they should pay attention to how they conduct the public speech, because, know that in a few years he may be sitting in the same place and facing the same problems.
"And what's interesting is that at the Ministry of Energy, there are two of CAPE, he and Amin Anta, my very good friends; today, they are managing the situation. A friend told me yesterday that Karma is a bitch, "he said in Morning Starr.
Mr. Donkor also noted that the challenge faced in the energy sector is that of finance rather than technology.
"Our main problem now is finance, a big amount of money to pay for fuel. As a country, regardless of its seat, there are fundamental problems that we must address and move away from short-term problems and the almost lazy approach.
"The last tariff reduction was very good for the government, but very debilitating for the energy sector … we are only delaying the inevitable to score easy political points".
The comment comes as Mr. Amewu struggles to convince Ghanaians that the country is not returning to the debilitating energy crisis it has suffered under the Mahama government.
Many Ghanaians have expressed frustration at intermittent power cuts in many parts of the country.
The government maintains, however, that the problem is being resolved, but intermittent reductions are expected.
