Karpowership Deal Karpowership

Karpowership Ghana Company Ltd has dispelled its fears about energy supply issues related to the planned relocation of 470 megawatts of Tema power to Sekondi in the West region next month.

The builder and the operator of the floating plant have been supplying the national grid with electricity since it was commissioned in 2015.

Sandra Amarquaye, communications specialist for Karpowership Ghana, said the move would help the company use Ghana's natural gas in the western enclave.

"Together with our stakeholders, we have almost completed site preparation work and look forward to moving the power by mid-August," she said.

Expressing after handing over a newly renovated Tema Community Library to the Ghana Library Authority, she badured the company to continue to provide electricity consistently and reliably.

"Operating from the western enclave next month will not affect a constant and reliable power supply for which we are known," Sandra said.

While acting from the renovated library, she said the company was not reluctant to revive it and stock it with books when the deteriorating state caught their eye.

Mrs. Amarquaye hoped that many generations would benefit from the renovated library, which is the means by which Karpowership says goodbye to Tema.

At the same time, Hayford Siaw, director general of the Ghana Library Authority, thanked Karpower for letting the country know that it had adopted electronic technology with its library.

Ghana is the second country in Africa to have a digital library.

"With our plans to create more libraries, we are not left out in the digital world. We have developed our own app to expand readership. One can download books for free from the Ghana Library's application on the Play Store, "he revealed.

According to him, one of their strategies is to work with the private sector to rehabilitate existing deplorable libraries.

The Tema Community Library in 2017 has welcomed more than 8,000 users, with 14,000 in 2018.
