Ken Agyapong did not assault a police officer – Afenyo-Markin | Policy

Assin Central MP Ken Agyapong has badaulted no police officer for whom he should be arrested, said Alexander Afenyo-Markin, MP for Effutu's constituency.

The police administration has asked Parliament to release Mr. Agyapong to help him investigate a case of badault against him.

The request to the Speaker of Parliament on March 19, 2019, indicated that one police officer, Detective Sergeant George Ofori, had reported an alleged badault on Mr. Agyapong.

"This incident allegedly took place on March 14, 2019, at a demonstration of students of the Winneba University of Education," letter signed by the Director General / Administration, Commissioner of Police (COP), Mr. Ken Yeboah, I said.

He explained that the police administration was aware of the privileges and immunities accorded to members of Parliament under the 1992 Constitution and the Regulations of the latter.

"In the circumstances, we respectfully request your indulgence to release the hon. Kennedy Agyapong must report to the commander of the Central Regional Police to badist in investigations into the alleged badault, "he said.

Addressing members of the parliamentary press on Sunday, March 24, Mr. Afenyo-Markin, who is also a private lawyer, denied allegations that Mr. Agyapong allegedly badaulted an officer.

"The police must evaluate the fact made available to him."

"I just want to say that there was no such aggression against a policeman in my presence," he said.
